How To Write Advertisements For Class 11 English Writing Section (Tips To Write Classified Advertisements, Format,12 Solved examples of Advertisements)

Tips To Write Advertisements

Class 11 English CBSE

Classified Advertisements:

1. Heading

  • While giving the heading one should ensure that it immediately conveys to the readers what the advertisement is about.

    • For example, if it is for selling a car,  the heading should be like “Sale/Purchase” or “Car For Sale” or “For Sale”

2. Use Simple and Clear Language

  • As the classified advertisements are meant to be short and to the point, there is need to use words to ensure the message is clear. Complex language must be avoided as it may confuse the reader.

3. Highlight Key Details

  • Only include the most important details about the product or service. For example:

    • If selling, something there should be mention of the condition, brand, size, or model.

    • For rentals, the location, rent, and key features (like “3BHK with parking”) should be mentioned.

    • For job advertisements, the vacant position, qualifications, skills needed, personality, age, salary, and how to apply should be mentioned.

4. Be Concise

  • In a classified ad, every word counts. Therefore, unnecessary words or repetition must be avoided.

    • For example, instead of writing “Beautiful and spacious 3-bedroom apartment available for rent,” one should write “For rent spacious 3BHK.”

5. Include Contact Information

  • It is essential to include the contact details at the end of the advertisement. This can be an address, phone number, or email. It is crucial as it helps the interested readers to reach the concerned person/agency/organisation. There is a need to double-check the information to make sure all the details are correct.

6. Add a Call to Action

  • A Call to Action tells the reader what to do next. Use simple instructions like “Call now,” “Walk in interview,” or “Apply.” This adds a sense of urgency and helps prompt immediate responses.

7. Stay Within Word Limits

  • In classifieds, word limits are restricted. Therefore, one must stay within the word limit. So, there is a need to practice editing to stay within limits without losing important information.
