Application For Job

What is a job application?

A job application is basically to let a company know that you are interested in a role and why you will be suitable for it. It usually involves sending in your résumé and cover letter. Here you highlight your skills, experience, and education that match their requirements.

Tips To Write an Application For a Job with Bio-data

An Application For Job has two parts:

  1. The Cover Letter: In this part explanation should be given as to why someone is applying for the job and what makes him/her suitable for the position.

  2. Bio-data/Resume:  Here one should write personal, educational, and professional details in a proper format.

The focus should be on the cover letter first, as it's the core of the application. The following is the structure.

Part 1: The Cover Letter (Application)

Format:

a. Sender's Address

  • Start with the sender’s address at the top left.

  • Leave a line after the subject

e. Salutation

  • Use of formal salutations such as "Sir/Madam" or "Dear Sir/Madam" is required.

f. Body of the Letter (3 paragraphs)

  • Introduction: In this part, one should mention the purpose of writing the letter and the position one is applying for. It is also required to refer to the source.

    • Example: “In response to your advertisement that appeared in The Times of India on 12 October 2024, I would like to offer my candidature for the post of Sales Executive in your reputed firm.

  • Qualifications and Experience: Briefly describe your educational background, skills, and experience.

    • Example: “I have recently completed my Graduation from XYZ University in commerce stream. I have good communication skills and basic knowledge of sales and customer service.”

  • Closing: Politely express your willingness to provide more information and request an interview.

    • Example: “I am eager to contribute to your esteemed organisation. I shall be available for an interview at your convenience. I look forward to hearing from you.”
